Wrapping
the Present
An
action oriented individual once said "There's no time like
the present." And here we are, dead square in it. The present,
that is. It's the end -of-the-year wrap up. 2005 is nearly in the
bag. Old news. History.
Of course it went quickly. From the perspective of any finish line,
the race is but a blur of action. But if we freeze-frame this moment,
take a reflective look upon the past twelve months, and account
for what has transpired since the last New Year, what will we honestly
see? Meaningful accomplishments? Wasted opportunities? Courageous
changes? Safe escapes?
Let's transpose that earlier quote to enrich the meaning: "There's
no present like the time." That's how I see it. Time is a precious
gift. First it is a gift to you. It's yours to use or lose. Cherish
or trash. Savor or slouch. How you spend your time is, indeed, how
you value life.
But consider also, especially during this season of giving, that
time is the greatest present you can give to anyone, be it a loved
family member or a stranger who desperately needs your companionship.
As you get your last minute gifts in order, don't neglect the purposeful
allotment of your greatest treasure. There's no present like the
time.
I won't keep you any longer. You have a present to get to. My heartfelt
wishes for a soul enriching, life affirming experience this holiday
season as you celebrate your faith and friendships.
Until next year,
Dan
